Yesterday was another 300 mile travel day from Enfield/Rocky Mount, NC to Charleston/Mt Pleasant, SC. Today we went to Congaree National Park which is a forest in the flood plain which was designated a national park in 2003. It has some of tallest trees of old growth which of course are protected. We walked the 2 mile boardwalk through the forest viewing several varieties of trees and plants in their natural environment. Some areas reminded us of the trail at Highlands Hammock State Park. This campground is actually on the property of the Oakland Plantation and we took a wagon ride to see it. Sadly we head back to Florida tomorrow with a stop in Jacksonville before heading home. Pictures are downloading real slow so I'll post more tomorrow.
That does look like the boardwalk at Highlands Hammock
